What Kinds Of Air Conditioners Do We Work With?
Years ago, there weren’t very many options when it came to air conditioners. Today, there are lots of different styles and options for cooling your home or business. We like to give our customers different options, so we make sure that we know about every air conditioning system available.
Styles Of Air Conditioners
- Central Air Conditioning – We offer standard central AC options, with varying levels of energy efficiency.
- Ductless Mini Splits – Ductless mini splits provide zoned air conditioning. You can install one to fix a problem room, or install them all around your home or business. These systems are extremely energy efficient, whisper quiet, and can also provide heating in the winter. Another great attribute is that they require no ductwork.
- Heat Pumps – Contrary to the name, heat pumps actually work as air conditioners as well. These systems are highly efficient, and can also provide heat in the winter.

Abingdon Local Spotlight: The Barter Theatre
When the Barter Theatre first opened its doors, the price was either 35 cents, or an equivalent amount of produce or livestock. Four of five attendees chose the route of using produce, and at the end of the first season, the Barter Company cleared $4.35 in cash, two barrels of jelly, and had collectively gained over 300 pounds.
You can’t pay with produce today, but at least one performance a year celebrates Barter’s history by accepting donations for Feeding America Southwest Virginia. The Barter Theatre is sourced a lot of it’s material from the Empire Theatre in NYC. When it was due to be demolished in 1875, Robert Porterfield, the founder of the Barter, was given a weekend to salvage whatever he wanted from the theatre, before it was destroyed. They came away with $75,000 worth of seats, tapestries, carpeting, lighting fixtures, and paintings. They even had an old lighting system that was designed by Thomas Edison for the Empire, which they stopped using in the 70s.
The Barter Theatre has had some renovations made, but still has that historical charm. It’s a great spot if you want to catch a show and have a fun night out!
